8. That the cadets while studying Chinese shall be under the control and supervision of the Governor who shall frame regulations for their hours of study and general government.
That their progress shall be tested by half-yearly examinations, and that every cadet shall be liable at any time to be sent home to his friends at the public expense if his conduct is considered by the Governor & Executive Council to be so unsatisfactory as to render such a course desirable.
The Governor and Executive Council shall decide, on the ground of dismissal, whether he shall be sent home.
That a bond be entered into by the cadet or his friends at home with the Agent-General to secure his good conduct and progress. If dismissed, repayment of the passage given on appointment and the cost of his passage home shall be called upon.
